Clacton Sailing Club is opening a new Wingfoiling and Windfoiling Section to provide local sailors in both disciplines with the opportunity to sail with safety cover as they make the transition to sea sailing. For now, safety boat cover will  be provided during dinghy and catamaran racing on Sundays (April to October). As soon as there is sufficient interest and members’ support, we have the vision to organise wingfoil race practice with safety boats cover every Saturday.   

 

We are currently getting in touch with national bodies that advise and support the formation of wingfoiling (BKSA) and windfoiling (UKWA) clubs, with the intention to help us hosting open racing events in 2025. Both associations work closely with the RYA, and we believe that support by amateur RYA-affiliated Sport Clubs is the way forward for these revolutionary sports to become fully recognised sailing disciplines. 

 

Clacton Sailing Club is a venue that is very well suited to these sports:

• Launching is possible in all states of the tide

• Large sandy beach protected at each end by fishtail groynes

• The steeply shelving beach provided easy launching with deep foils 

• Cross shore conditions for South Westerly and North Easterly winds

• Grassy rigging areas a short walk from the beach

• Beach access via wide ramps

• Changing Rooms with showers available 24/7 via personal access code

• Parking close to the beach in the large secure boat compound 

• For competent Dinghy Sailors there is also the opportunity to use the Club Boats to join our - Dinghy Racing program or free sailing on Sundays.
