About Us
Clacton-on-Sea Sailing Club is situated at the extreme eastern boundary of Clacton-on-Sea within the Holland-on-Sea Country Park.
Sixteen miles from Colchester in North East Essex the Club is only 9 miles from the national Motorway/Dual Carriageway system.
Facing South, prevailing South Westerly and North Easterly winds make for excellent sailing and thanks to the recently remodelled and recharged beaches launching & landing is possible at all states of the tide.
The boat compound is fully fenced with room for 100 boats, ample car parking, generous camping space and within easy reach of the shore.
For non-sailors there is the sandy beach, and for spectators the roomy Club balcony gives an uninterrupted view of the whole sailing and racing area.
The Club house has a well stocked bar and good catering facilities; with meals and beverages at Club prices.
The Club has hosted a number of events in the past including European and National Championships, more recently the club has hosted a Hurricane Class TT for 3 years in succession. Safety cover on the water provided by two RIB’s setting standard Championship courses immediately in front of the clubhouse. The large grassy upper compound area provides plenty of space for trailers and rigging for visiting sailors.
Throughout the season there is racing most Sunday mornings at 11.00. The regular start time is possible as we can launch off the sandy beach at all states of the tide. The size and layout of the compound allows for space for social distancing allowed us to sail within the guidelines in 2020. Whilst there is currently no formal sail training programme the club welcomes sailors of all abilities. The club has an informal and friendly feel, the sailing calendar is usually backed up by a social calendar curtailed currently in line with Covid Guidelines. New members are always welcome.
